Following the Soviet-Afghan War and the withdrawal of Russian troops, loads of equipment was left behind, including helmets. The Soviet backed Afghan Army had to use whatever equipment was left behind. This is one of those helmets.
This helmet was recovered in Panshir Valley, Afghanistan from a pile of discarded helmets. Those helmets were likely discarded by the ANA when they transitioned from steel to kevlar helmets.
