Iraqi Police Blue DPM Camo Uniforms
Shortly after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, elements of the regular Iraqi Police began wearing uniforms in a blue DPM camouflage pattern with the styles varying considerably. They continued using this pattern throughout the War on ISIS and in the present day. This section will cover examples of these uniforms.
ACU Cut
PRE ISIS (2003 - 2013): YES
WAR ON ISIS (2013 - 2019): YES
POST ISIS (2019 -): YES
The blue DPM uniform pattern shown above mimics the US Advanced Combat Uniform style exactly, with 2 slanted chest pockets, sleeve pockets with velcro, and other prominent features. The vast majority of ACU style copies were imported from China so it is not surprising that this one has the yellow Chinese manufacturing tags. The uniform is made from cotton and not ripstop, and also has some pockets removed from the pants which is an interesting trend on these uniforms. These were also worn by early Iraqi SWAT units.
Officer style
PRE ISIS (2003 - 2013): No
WAR ON ISIS (2013 - 2019): Yes
POST ISIS (2019 -): YES
This style of 2 pocket uniform is covered in a separate page, but put simply, it dates from the War on ISIS period for a number of reasons; The embroidered chest patches are a giveaway since those did not come out until the past few years and the general cut of the uniform is largely a post 2010 feature.
