saddam era iraqi army parkas
Contrary to what would be expected in a hot environment such as the Middle East, parkas were worn by some Iraqi soldiers alongside their regular uniforms. This section will go over the types of parkas worn by the Iraqi Army.

Beginning in the Iran-Iraq War, Iraq imported West German parkas for their soldiers. If these parkas are copies or genuine West German issue is unknown, but it was likely a mix of both.

DESERT STORM: YES
OIF: most likely
This grey iraqi used parka has largely the same design as the West German one above. Most notably, the zipper only goes halfway up the jacket and not all the way down. The tag that is in this jacket is unfortunately gone, but the size and placement of the remnants suggest it was one of the earlier tags seen on uniforms dating to the Iran Iraq War. It also has a removable fleece liner.

This parka sports the same general design of all Iraqi parkas, with a zipper and button closure combination. However, it has a yellow Ministry of Defense, Department of Ordonance tag, denoting it as Romanian made and its manufacturing date sometime during the Iran Iraq War. However, they were used all the way until 2003.

Based on the same design as the West German parka, these inferior quality green parkas were worn by the Iraqi army post 1991 until OIF. This is one of the more uncommon parkas to find.
