Iranian "Island" Camouflage
Introduced shortly after 1979, the Iranian "Island" or "Blotch" camouflage was mainly used by the Basij volunteer units and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Forces during the Iran Iraq War. Quality and shades of these uniforms vary depending on the manufacturer, but all incorporate black, green, and red colors on a tan background. They use larger and more circular blotches than the earlier Iranian "fire" camouflage pattern. The "island" camo pattern was phased out by the 1990's.
