Iraqi Desert tan combat uniform Variants
Along with the usual OD green Iraqi fatigues, a tan uniform also existed alongside them. They were seen during the Iran-Iraq War all the way until 2003.

This tan Iraqi combat uniform has 2 chest pockets with covered buttons. It is made of a very rough fabric, almost feeling like burlap. This uniform example shows up in use during the Iran Iraq War and Desert Storm.

While looking almost identical to the tan uniform ab0ve it, this uniform is not the same. Firstly, it is made of a cotton material versus a coarse, plastic textured fabric, and it has a layer of white fabric underneath the pocket flaps. This particular uniform has Republican Guard insignia and is a Desert Storm bringback.

This is yet another variant of the two tan uniforms above that feature 2 chest pockets with covered buttons. What makes this one different is the fact that it has pen pockets on both sleeves and side pockets on the pants that are closed by a button. This particular uniform was worn by a Republican Guard Deputy Corporal. While the tag in this uniform is long gone, it was likely one of the yellow "Ministry of Interior Dept. Ordnance" tags.

One of the more rarer patterns of the Iraqi tan uniform is pictured above. It is essentially the exact same pattern as all of the concealed button uniforms with the exception of two strips running down the bottom half of the jacket. This addition is a direct copy of a West German uniform style from the 1980s. Both pieces have the yellow 1984 contract tag of Pan East International.
Short Sleeve
Short sleeve uniforms were also worn by the Iraqi Military under Saddam from the Iran Iraq War all the way to 2003, and are much rarer than their long sleeve counterparts. It appears the short sleeve ones were worn by officer's more than enlisted men.

This tan short sleeve uniform set sports a possible mismatched pants and top since the tags are different, but they were found together and the style matches. The jacket has a standard jihm tag with extra script and the pants have a yellow Pan East International tag with contract date of 1984. The style is pretty much the same as other tan uniforms from the 1980's-1991 besides the short sleeves and exposed buttons.
