P44 style canteen (metal)

This Iraqi canteen is based on the British P44 canteen with some small differences; the pouch features snap closures instead of lift the dot snaps. The pouch can be either slid onto the belt with the loop on the rear or hooked on, but this particular cover had that feature removed. The canteen is an earlier metal/aluminum version with the Jihm property stamp located at the bottom. This version would have likely been in use before the Iran Iraq War.

P58 style canteens (plastic)

This style of canteen and cover is essentially a copy of the British P58 canteen and cover. It features hooks on the rear to attach it to the web belt and a loop to attach to suspenders. The plastic canteen cover doubles as a mess kit.

This is a later version of the canteen meant to be worn with the iraqi copy of the P58 web gear. They did not see action in the Iran Iraq War. The pouch features hooks on the rear to attach to the belt but the flap is closed by a buckle system and does not have a loop to attach to suspenders. the canteen itself has a stamped Jihm property mark, and the plastic cover doubles as a mess kit.
