IRaqi Popular army camouflage uniform
The Iraqi Popular Army, formed in 1970, was composed of civilian volunteers loyal to the Ba'ath Regime to be a counterbalance of power to prevent a coup attempt by the Iraqi Army. They were mostly made up of poorly trained civilian conscripts and Iraqi soldiers who had already completed their army service. They were disbanded in 1991.
This pattern of camouflage, based off of the U.S. ERDL pattern, was widely seen worn by the Popular Army but also some elements of the Iraqi Republican Guard.
Most of these uniforms were exported to Iraq by a Romanian company which is mentioned on the tags, and they are referred to as "Camouflage suits with caps." They were also made in South Korea. These uniforms began to be used by Iraq prior to the start of the Iran Iraq War.

This particular Popular Army uniform is very dirty, sandy and has field repairs. There is also burn marks on the collar and pocket, evident of being a battlefield pickup in Desert Storm and not from a warehouse. This is an example of the Romanian made Popular Army uniform.
Although uncommon, the Iraqi Republican Guard did get their hands on some Popular Army uniforms, including their camo version. This uniform is an example of that. It exhibits period Republican Guard patches and a Corporal rank on the sleeve. It was captured from an abandoned military position in Desert Storm.
