Iraqi Lizard Camouflage Uniforms
First seen during the early 1980's, the Iraqi lizard camouflage uniform is arguably my favorite looking pattern, but that's besides the point. These were almost exclusively worn by Iraqi Special Forces, Commandos, Naval Infantry units, and the Republican Guard alongside the DPM uniforms in the exact same cut. Many photos exist of groups of Iraqi soldiers wearing both patterns, but surviving examples of the lizard pattern are not easy to find, especially in good condition. They continued to be used up to Desert Storm and not many were still in service for the 2003 invasion. 99% look exactly like the uniform pictured above with a small number of officers getting custom tailored dress uniforms in the pattern.
Rain Suit
During the 1980s, Iraq imported rain suits in lizard camouflage from South Korea. Compared to the lizard camouflage combat uniform, the pattern has a lighter backdrop of green and more vibrant brown colors. As expected from a rain suit, the uniform is very light and does have a concealed hood in the collar.
