iraqi saddam era dpm camouflage uniforms
During the Iran-Iraq War, copies of the British DPM camouflage were seen worn by Iraqi Forces that was influenced by the British support of Iraq during that period. DPM uniforms were primarily worn all the way through 2003 with variations of design, color, and material. The camo pattern is still popular today, even being worn by some Iraqi officers. This section will only go over the Saddam era DPM uniforms.

This Iraqi DPM camo uniform has exposed buttons where the jacket is buttoned up, but covered buttons on the pockets. Both the pants and jacket have the Iraqi Jihm stamp on the tags. This is Desert Storm era but the variant was also used in the Iran Iraq War.

This example is one of the earlier DPM versions, modeled heavily off of the British tropical DPM uniform. These were exported by Pan East International, a Romanian company, for the Iraqi army during the Iran-Iraq War. The uniform is very light in construction, which is a perfect feature for a desert climate, has exposed buttons, and a zipper closure. The tag states this uniform was part of a contract dated 1984.

Here's another example of an Iraqi DPM uniform style not commonly seen. This particular set has all exposed buttons on the jacket with pleated chest pockets with a 2 button closure. If the tag was not worn away, it would have exhibited a single jihm property stamp with the size of the uniform located underneath. The matching pants have concealed buttons near the crotch area with 2 exposed buttons at the top to close the pants. On the rear, the pants had 2 pockets but the soldier modified the pants and removed them. This variant has been observed in period photographs from 1986 and onwards.
