Known iraqi military helmet markings

Because of the fact that many Iraqi military records from the Saddam period either do not exist or have been lost, the meaning of many Iraqi markings have been lost to time. This section will go over the confirmed Iraqi markings seen on helmets.

Medical markings

"M" Marking
Worn by Iraqi Field Medical Officers.

Red Crescent
Worn by Iraqi Ambulance Drivers or Medics (Used by the Iraqi equivalent of the Red Cross).

Republican Guard triangles

Red Triangle
Signifies the Iraqi Republican Guard forces.

Unit Markings

3rd Tawakalna Mechanized Division
Split red and black triangle sometimes preceded by an arabic 3.

1st Hammurabi Armored Division
Green circle on 4 sides 

Miscellaneous 

Red Stripe With Arabic "MP"
Used by the Iraqi Military Police. The helmet is often painted white as well.
